28th Annual Rent Ceremony

In the 30th year since its inception, 2024 marked our 28th annual Rent Ceremony (two years were missed due to the Covid-19 pandemic). Friends, colleagues and spectators who just happened to be on hand watched as we paid our ‘peppercorn’ rent of five posies of flowers and five rosy red apples to Shaftesbury Capital for the five headleases on the ‘protected lands’ which include important heritage sites such as Covent Garden’s iconic market building and Bedford Chambers. The weather was fine and the band held everyone’s attention right until the very end. Thanks to everyone who helped make this year’s ceremony a success and to those who came out and supported us.
